Until modern Wang Guowei compares the record of Wanghai、Hu Houxuan compares the record of the name of Quartet and the name of Wind Quartet with the Yin Ruins oracle bone inscriptions to corroborate, to research ancient history and made great achievements, the historical value of Shan Hai Jing is recognized by the people. Dongyi culture has very important position with Huaxia equivalent in the course of development of Chinas ancient civilization,is one of the origins of ancient civilizations and developed than other ethnic Chinese in a fairly long period of time. Although the literature of pre-Qin on Dongyi culture is seidom, but Shan Hai Jing has saved a lot materials of Dongyi culture and ancient legends. These materials for us to understand the culture and customs and ancient lineage of Dongyi has very important reference value. The first chapter discusses the Shan Hai Jing, the books decade,authors, and content properties. the book which is not written by one person at one time in one place is recognized by scholars. Through text analysis can confirm the main part of Shan Hai Jing was written in the Warring States period, the lower limit of the book was between the middle and late period of Warring States; but the part of book was added by the people of Qin and Han dynasties, and therefore the lower limit of book was the late of Qin and Han Dynasties .
