I I 摘要 本文基于《后苏时期中亚的制度改革与政治延续——权力、认知和协定》 一书的翻译。该书是美国耶鲁大学著名学者波利·琼斯·隆关于中亚地缘政治 的专著，该书作者深入分析了中亚三个国家——吉尔吉斯斯坦、哈萨克斯坦和 乌兹别克斯坦——政治转型期的特点，提出了转型博弈（TBG）模式，试图通过 该模式找出三国转型期的共通性。本文总结了翻译过程，梳理了翻译过程中出 现的问题和困难，针对翻译过程中出现的英语长句讨论了遵循的翻译原则和翻 译技巧。通过翻译实践以及相关资料查阅，本文作者认为翻译英语长句时，应 将英语长句切分为核心简单句，并适当运用顺序法、逆序法、分句法、综合法 等技巧，将英语长句转换为意义清楚、通顺自然的汉语句子。最后对于本书翻 译实践，译者给出了总结性建议，希望与读者共勉。 关键词：中亚五国；政治转型；理解长句；长句转换 Abstract This paper is based on the translation of Institutional Change and Political Continuity in Post-Soviet Center Asia, -Power, Perceptions and Pacts, an academic research on Central Asian Geopolitics written by Pauline Jones Luong, a famous American scholar in Yale University, who makes an indepth analysis of institutional change and political continuity in three countries: Kyrgyzstan, Kazakhstan and Uzbekistan, formulates a model called TBG, and attempts to find the similarities of institutional change among the three countries with TBG model in the book. This paper makes brief summary of the whole translation, raises some difficulties and problems encountered in translation, and elaborates particularly on the translation principles and techniques in terms of the translation of the long English sentences. On the basis of actual translation and referring to theoretical literatures, this paper proposes that the long English sentences should be divided into several kernel Chinese sentences in order to obtain a good understanding at first, and then shifted into natural and coherent Chinese with clarified meaning by properly adopting such translation techniques as positive sequence, negative sequence, phasing and synthesis etc. Finally, this paper provides suggestion summed up from the translation of this book for sharing with readers.
