PAGE PAGE VI Abstract From the late years of 19th century to the early years of 20th century, the Anhui Colloquial Periodical was found under the background which the national crisis was growing, and the Chinese peoples anti-imperialist patriotic struggle was rising, Since the Anhui Colloquial Periodical was found, it encouraged people to struggle with distinctive ideas and popular language. It raised great impactions at the time to the whole China, and even became one of the important source of the “May 4th Movement”. It gave us a chance to study the Anhui revolution at that time and it had the valuable information for study of Chen Duxiu thinking. Because of the short time, and the simple elements, Anhui Colloquial Periodical didn’t form a complete system in terms of ideology, and was far from the New Youth style, scope and impact. So the academics don’t pay much attention to this newspaper, and the existing research is still very limited. It’s rare that researchers had analyzed and compared between the local awareness and the concept of national, however, this is the important character about this paper. In fact, this is always run through the entire newspaper, which reflects the Anhui Colloquial Periodical as the local newspaper with an open mind and a sense of the overall situation. The author collates historical data for comparative analysis for Anhui Colloquial Periodical from the local and national awareness. Found a national level concept under Anhui local concept from the Anhui Colloquial Periodical; explained how it delivered local awareness with a vision of the whole country.
