In the course of its development, Soccer Fan News had occupied an important position in the history of sports newspapers. There was also a statement that “the south has Soccer News, the north has Soccer Fan News”. But later, Soccer Fan News has fallen in trouble, due to the influence of several internal and external factors. Nowadays, Soccer Fan News is in a positive adjustment stage to change its unfavorable situation . This paper uses the method of document analysis, content analysis, expert interviews and historical research, analyses the historical changes and affecting factors of Soccer Fan News from 1985 to 2013. According to the development trend and living environment of the Soccer Fan News , this paper divides the development history of this newspaper into three periods: creation and beginning period (1985-1993), rapidly growing period (1993-2002), lurching and breakthrough period (2003-2013). During 1985 to 1993,the identity of Soccer Fan News’ communicator was diverse. With the national sports development as the main report content, Soccer Fan News attached importance to the report of national football team and international football competitions. It maintained close contact with soccer fans and other audience. It has made its own contribution to the promotion of the Chinese football reform and fans quality training. Meanwhile ,Soccer Fan News started its own brand across the country rapidly with its objective and simple reporting style. The time from 1994 to 2002 is Soccer Fan News’ rapidly growing period. In this period, Soccer Fan News still focus on the national soccer team, paying attention to the progress of Chinese Football League and national football team ’s journey to the 17th World Cup.
