As an important component of vocabulary, color terms have been explored by many linguists. This thesis, bringing color terms into the aspects of human experience, attempts to do a cognitive research into the understanding of English and Chinese color terms by employing the theory of cognitive model and context so as to give a more specific and effective way of drawing the cultural connotations of English and Chinese color terms. This paper, applying the relationship of cognitive model, language and culture, is an attempt to find another way to apply cognitive model to understanding color terms. There are three categories in color term understanding.
