Control Strategy Research and Performance Simulation for the Plug-in full Hybrid Electric Vehicle
Abstract
With the development of economy and the improvement of living standard, the demand for automobiles is increasing. However, As the stress from oil source scarcity and deterioration of urban environment become more and more severe,it is urgent to seek a new technology of saving energy and reducing the exhaust emission. The environmental pollution and deficiency of petroleum resources have been the two serious problems against the sustainable development of the automotive industry. Electric vehicle (EV) seems to be the best method to solve these problems, but its development is currently limited by batterys low energy density. Fuel cell electrical vehicle(FCEV) is just on the laboratory level. On this occasion,hybrid electric vehicle (HEV) which integrates the merits of EV and conventional vehicle(CV) is invented, HEV investigation becomes a new hotspot in international automobile field. HEV is regarded as one of the most realistic methods to improve urban environment and relieve the stress of oil source scarcity. In the recent years, the PLUG IN hybrid car has been the researching
focus. There are many PLUG IN hybrid cars used in California in USA based on the prototype car of Prius, Escap etc. The PLUG IN hybrid car can not only be used as electric car but also as conventional car, which is the most important advantage.
The paper has studied the design of the vehicle, the matching of the drive system, the research of the control strategy, based on the joint project of the research and development of a Plug-in Hybrid Electric Vehicle by our laboratory and a company. And then, simulation study are also conducted for the vehicle’s dynamical and fuel economic characteristic with the vehicle simulation software CRUISE.
