Univ. , Guangzhou 5 10642, China) Abstract :Fertilized egg of Clariasf uscus were obtained by induced prawning. The development of the egg were ob erved and tudied under the light micro cope. The fertilized egg of Clariasf uscus were tran parent and adhe ive, orange or green in color, and pheroid in hape. The average diameter of the egg wa 118 mm, containing a large quantity of yolk. At the water temperature of 2716- 3015 e , the fertilized egg hatched out after 23 h and 12 min. Yolk movement i important to the embryonic development . The initiation of hatching wa found to be not a phy ical but a bio-chemical effect.
