Study Study on Key Technologies for Silicon Thin Film Solar Cells on LOW Cost SSP Substrate Major：Condensed Matter Physics Name：Qun Ban Supervisor：Hui Shen，Professor AB STRACT Efficiency and cost are always the bottleneck for large scale application of solar cells．In order to increase the efficiency—cost ratio the research work are maily in two directions．One is development of novel device structure，the other is decrease of material cost．Since crystalline silicon thin film solar cells combine the advantages of traditional crystalline silicon solar cells and cost effective aim，it is an important research direction for high efficiency·cost ratio and stable solar cells．Until the cost of silicon thin film solar ceils COuld be decreased to lower than that of bulk silicon solar cells，it could be practically feasible．In present there hash’t established a popular accepted technology routes yet． This thesis focuses the controversion of photovoltaic conversion efficiency and production cost，putting forward the technology route of silicon thin film solar cells on low COSt SSP substrate with consideration of better material performance and lower cost technology processes．Through preparation of substrate，systematic study on deposition and properties of silicon thin films on low cost substrate，the process parameters for SSP and silicon films with high performance were determined，furthermore the silicon thin film solar cells with simple and stable structure were desighed and realized．The brief research contents and results are concluded as follows． 1．First reviewed the silicon thin film solar ceils’development and the research background，with background，with the emphasis on theories and experimental methods for crystalline and amorphous structure．The semiconductor materials’photonic properties and electronic transportation，grain boundaries，correlation between technologies and physics of dopants and principles of silicon thin film solar cells were demonstrated． 2．Carried out prep
