· ·II· · ·III· Abstract Abstract Wireless sensor network has the characters of low power consumption, low cost, self-organization, high fault tolerance and is suitable to be used in modern informational battlefield to complete military tasks such as battlefield monitoring, target localization, weapon control, identity certification, individual communication. This thesis designs and develops an ARM-based embedded wireless sensor network ZigBee protocol stack. This protocol stack applies to embedded system with computing and storage resource restrained, and is adaptable to diverse physical layer technologies used in different application environments. Wireless sensor network built by this protocol stack has capabilities of self-organization, self repairing, and reliable in data transmission. This Wireless sensor network could deploy as a military integration network with functions of communication, detection, commanding, and fire control. Firstly, the present study and application situation of wireless sensor network and embedded technology were introduced. The ZigBee protocol standard documents IEEE standard 802.15.4-2006 and ZigBee specification 2007 both are analyzed to illustrate the system architecture and functions in each level of ZigBee protocol. Secondly, the structure of embedded system using for protocol stack developing which is made up of embedded Linux operation system, mini6410 embedded developing borad and CC2530 wireless network card is explained. Thirdly, the methods of design and implement to this protocol stack, including formation of each level, interfaces structure, data processing flow and event processing flow are expound. The implemented protocol stack achieves the basic functions of ZigBee protocol, applies to resource restrained embedded system, and unrelated to bottom hardware.
