PAGE PAGE vi iii iii Abstract It is known that there are four main basic language skills including listening, speaking, reading and writing in the process of language learning and acquisition. However, writing is a skill that has often been neglected in English language teaching in schools in China. Despite learning English for many years, students in junior middle school still have difficulties in their writing skills, and they tend to make many kinds of mistakes and errors in their English writing. This thesis aims to explore the types of errors frequently made by junior middle school students and analyze the reasons for these errors. Based on the theory of error analysis, the theory of contrastive analysis and the theory of inter-language, the researcher makes a data analysis on the errors of Shenyang No.43 Middle School students’ English writing. In this thesis, the researcher mainly adopts three research instruments, questionnaire, writing tests and interview. The research findings show that there are five types of errors frequently made by junior middle school students. They are grammatical errors, lexical errors, discourse errors, prepositional errors and punctuation errors. Among them, lexical errors and prepositional errors are the most typical in student’s English writing. In addition, the causes of errors are also discussed. This thesis puts forward some practical and effective suggestions to help students to treat the errors from the perspective of error analysis. Keywords: English writing, error analysis, junior middle school 摘 要 众所周知，语言技能学习包括听说读写四项基本技能。然而，在中国英语教 学中，中国的英语教师常常忽略英语写作的教学。究其原因，初中学生的英语水 平太差，在英语写作中出现大量的错误，以至于教师不知道应该怎样纠正错误。 可是如果不纠正学生们在写作中的错误，学生们的英语成绩就不会进步。 在本论文中，笔者对初中学生的英语写作错误进行了实践调查与分析，分析 初中生在英语写作中出现的错误现象和错误原因。笔者希望从中找出解决该问题 的方案，并提出一些有效的教学建议来帮助学生避免错误。基于错误分析理论， 对比分析理论和中介语理论，笔者对沈阳市第四十三中学学生的英语写作样本中 的错误进行了数据分析。 在本论文中，笔者主要采取了三种方法，即调查问卷、样本分析及访谈。通 过统计与分析，笔者发现词汇错误与介词错误在学生的作文样本中出现的频率最 多。此外，作者对错误进行了分类，并找出了错误的原因。针对学生在作文样本 中出现的错误，作者从错误分析理论的角度给教师提供了有效的教
