ABSTRACTUsing ABSTRACT Using the broadband waveform data of local and regional earthquakes recorded of CDSN Kunming Station(KMI)，taking the method of Boatwright and Choy(1 986) and Choy and Boatwright(1 995)，a calculation algorithm for fast estimating the broadband radiated energy of small tO moderate size earthquakes based a single station data is developed in the dissertation． Eleven local and／or regional since 1990 have been selected to determine the radiated energy．Comparison with the radiated energy published by the National Earthquake Information Center(NEIC)show that the two results fit well．Broadband records of thirty—seven middle and small earthquakes are fllrther selected tO determine the radiated energy to extend the magnitude range for energy determination．The results alSO show a clear linear relation with the Mt publicized by NEIC，which further verifies the reliability ofthe method． The main contents ofthe dissertation are： 1．Briefly reviewing the history background of earthquake quantification，discussing the research advances and state-of-art of determination of earthquake energy, emphasizing the research purpose and signification． 2．Summarizing and analyzing the main advance of radiated energy measurement and determination methods，discussing the outstanding problems of broadband radiated energy results． 3．Presenting the data processing method and broadband radiated energy calculation method，analyzing uncertainty ofthe broadband radiated energy estimation 4，Comparing the broadband radiated energy results based on the method in this dissertation with those ofNEIC． 5．Attempting tO determine the radiated energy of small tO moderate size earthquakes at local to regional distances，comparing the results of radiate energy with the NEIC local magnitude ML． Keywords：Radiated energy，Single station，Seismological interpretation H 中田科学技术大学硕卜学位论文第一章前言 中田科学技术大学硕卜学位论文 第一章前言 如何度量一个地震的大小，经历了一个较长的发展过程(陈培善，1990)。 近些年来，随着宽频带数字地震观测的发展，数字地震资料对于地震学的意义， 很快就被人们所关注，同时也极大地推动了地震定量
