Spend some time remembering what you have already read and heard. Think about your attitudes, if any, toward the topic. Form questions about it. 2. Before you read, preview the selection page by page. Leaf through the material you will read. 3. Before you read, scan the material quickly, first, look at the headings and subheadings that are provided and try to find the major information from subheading/subtitles (Unit 8, Unit 9) 4. Before you read, scan the material again. This time, look for words or phrases highlighted, either in boldface or in italics. 5. Before you read, scan the reading once more, this time to examine any illustrations, such as pictures, charts and figures (scanning and predicting skills in Unit4 and Unit9) II.
