A journalist and a novelist have come to see you. Time, money and effort were needed. ? ? 谓语动词用复数 ? (2) 以-s结束的表示群岛、山脉、海峡、瀑布等名词作主语时,谓语动词一般要用复数形式。例如: The Olympic Games are held every four years. The Himalayas are the roof of the world. The Great Lake lie between the USA and Canada. ? (3) 以-sh, -s,-ch, -ese等结尾的表示民族和国籍的名词,表示总称,谓语动词用复数形式,如 the Chinese, the English, the British, the Swiss, the Polish, the Danish, the Dutch等,例如: The Chinese are hard working. The English look to their Queen not only as their head of state, but also as the symbol of their nations unity.
