Such as, origin, costume, custom and so on. II. Teaching points: 1.Teaching important point: To develop Ss’ speaking ability. 2.Teaching difficult point: How to fire the students’ enthusiasm to express their ideas. Ⅲ.Teaching goals: 1. Enable Ss to get some information about western festival: Carnival; 2. To develop some basic reading skills—fast-reading, and careful-reading. IV.Teaching Procedures: Pre-reading Step 1:Lead-in:Guessing 1.Show some pictures about traditional Chinese festivals to students and ask students to answer the festivals it mentions. Then show them right answer. 2.Introduce western festivals--carnival to students by showing three pictures. 设计意图: To develop Ss get a general idea about festivals.And attact students’ interest to lead into the main passage. Step 2:Listening Let the students listen to the passage and check the topics it mentions. 1.Different carnivals 2.The origins of carnival 3.Special food 4.Carnival in Venice 设计意图:To practice students’ listening ability and get the main idea of the whole passage.
