Topic Unit 5 School Lunch – Practice 1, 2 Activity Class 4, Grade 5 Lecturer: Yan Teaching Objective Teaching aim: Students consolidate the knowledge they’ve learnt about school lunch. Ability aim: Students’ abilities of listening and speaking will be enhanced. Emotional aim: Students learn to treasure food and respect others job. Teaching Key Difficult Points Key point: Student can listen to the key words and sentences of this lesson, and apply the knowledge into practical use through oral practice. Difficult point: Student can recognize the differences of “need” and “have” by watching the pictures, and use them correctly. Teaching Aid PPT, board Teaching Procedure Step 1: Warm-up Sing a song: What does he need? (P62) Step 2: Practice Practice 1 (listening) Teacher shows pictures of foods and guide students to speak (e.g.: juice, rice, fruit, salt, tofu, meat, vegetables, sugar and so on.) Students read through the 4 questions on the book. Play the listening script, and check their answers. Students read the listening script together. Practice 2 (speaking) Teacher shows the pictures of practice 2 on the slide, emphasize “need” and “have” in the sentence, and “√” is for “have” while “x” is for “need”. Invite students to practice with the teacher first, in order to be the example for the rest of the class. Students practice in pairs. Invite several pairs of students to show it out, teacher checks and corrects. Activity (writing) Teacher shows the picture of the Activity, and has students recognize names of the characters in the picture (Mr. Green, Mrs. Green, Tony, Jenny, Ben, Lisa and Gogo.) T: Look at the picture. Ben, Lisa, Gogo and Mr. Green’s family want to cook lunch. They need something. Let’s see what they need. T: Do Mr. and Mrs. Green need any juice? (Ask a student to answer.) S: No, they don’t. They need some meat. T: Does Tony need any fruit? (Repeat the procedure.) Students read the answer on the slide together, and write the answer down on the boo
