Learning goals
Step 1 Showing the learning goals of this period
Step 2 Lead- in
(1)Lead the Ss to guess what the teacher did last weekend by playing some sounds.
T: Can you guess what I did last weekend?
S: (After listening to the sounds) You took some photos. / played ping-pong. / rode a horse. / took a shower. / slept.
T: Was I busy last weekend? Why?
S: Yes! Because you did a lot of activities.
Step 3: Before writing
(1)Task 1 : Ask the Ss to look at the pictures on P72 and complete the passage in 3a.
(2)Task 2.
Divide the passage into sentences , wrote them on each card and put the cards at random in an envelope. Ask the Ss to work in groups of four, give each group an envelope and ask them to put the sentences in order as quickly as they can.
(3) Task 3.
Ask the Ss to discuss the question in pairs: How can you find out the orders?
T:How can you find out the orders?

T: You mean the timeline. Good! And how can you find the first sentence?
S: 总起句。
T: Yes! In English, we call it “topic sentence”. A topic sentence usually tells us about the main idea of the passage. How about the last sentence? Can we find it in 3a?
S: No.
T: I added it to the passage. Why? Because when we’re writing, if we can give the passage an ending, the passage will be much better. So the structure of the passage is a topic sentence, the timeline and an ending.
T: Next, let’s focus on the verbs. What kind of tense did the writer use?
S: The Simple Past Tense.
T: Why?
S: Because the writer talked about his last weekend.
4)Task 4. Reading.
?? Compare the teacher’s passage with the one in 3a and tell which is better.
