Teaching procedures: Step 1 Show the learning goals to make the students know the key points. Step 2 Review the present progressive tense including the definition、structure and the sentence patterns. Step 3 Lead the students to find out the structure of the past progressive tense according to the present progressive tense. was \ were + doing Show two sentences to make the students think about the definition of the past progressive tense. 例如： He was having an English class at that time. 他那时在上英语课。 They were shopping when the rainstorm came. 暴风雨来临时他们正在购物。 Step 4 Show the definition of the past progressive tense. 过去某个时间点正在发生的动作或存在的状态。 （2）表示过去某段时间内持续进行的动作或存在的状态。 Step 5 Let the students to watch the example sentences to consider the sentence patterns of the past progressive tense. （1）We were watching TV from seven to nine last night. 昨天晚上七点到九点的时候我们在看电视。 （2）While he was waiting for the bus , he was reading a newspaper. 他边等车边看报。 Step 6 Show the sentence patterns 肯定句：主语+ was \ were + doing + 其他。 否定句：主语+ wasn’t \ weren’t + doing + 其他。 一般疑问句：Was\ Were+主语 + doing + 其他? 特殊疑问句：疑问词+ was \ were+主语 + doing + 其他？
