Teaching aims:(new curriculum standards)
To help students to know some knowledge about earthquake.
To develop students’ reading skills, such as guessing, skimming and scanning.
Teaching important and difficult points :
1.To get the main information of earthquake through the basic skills of skimming, scanning, and careful reading.
2. How to help students retell the story better.
Teaching methods:

First, I will show students several pictures to review some words for natural disasters,such as: volcano,tsunami,flood,drought,wildfire
Step3: Fast-reading
1.When and where did the earthquake happen?
2.How many people died or injured in this disaster?
3.In what order did the author write the passage?
A. in order of importance B. in order of place
C. in order of time D. in order of position
4. Read the text again, and divide it into four parts, according to the four words: signs, damage, rescue and revival.
