Hi, boys and grils, today I will introduce an important grammar of ?high school ---- Emphasis sentences
2.The definition of Emphasis sentences.
Emphasis is one of the important means to effectively exchange ideas. In the process of communication, in order to make ones thoughts properly understood by listeners or readers, one must highlight important contents, which requires the use of emphasis.
3.The Composition of Emphasis
In modern English, people can emphasize it through phonetics, vocabulary and grammar. Today we study emphasis of grammar ----Emphatic Sentence
4. rules of the Emphasis sentences.
1、结构: “It + is/was+被强调成分+ that /who+其他”。
2、注意:
(1)在该句型中, it无实际意义, 且只用it;
(2)若原句的谓语用了现在时或将来时, 则be动词用is; 若用过去时,则be用was。
(3)强调人用who/that,强调事用that
John broke the glass yesterday. 强调主语
It was John who/that broke the glass yesterday.
You should help me.强调宾语
It is me who/that you should help.
the film had already begun before they got to the cinema 强调时间状语
It was before they got to the cinema that the film had already begun.
He didn’t come to school last week because Li Ping was ill. (强调原因状语从句)
It was because Li Ping was ill that he didn’t come to school last week.
You should return to where you come from。 强调地点状语
It is where you come from that you should return to.
5.Sentence Pattern Transformation
1、变为一般疑问句(把主句中的be动词或情态动词提到句首即可)
It was last week that he went to Beidaihe for summer camping.
Was it last week that he went to Beidaihe for summer camping?
