Ask the students to discuss the questions in pairs: 1. If you get help from an excellent tour guide during the trip, what will you do? 2. How do you express your thanks? II. Tell the students that they will read an email of thanks, and give them a brief introduction of the format of a letter. Presentation of Reading I. Ask the students to read the words and expressions in the box of Exercise 1 and make sentences with them. II. Ask the students to listen to the text and look through it quickly and answer the questions in Exercise 2. III. Ask the students to read the email again and explain the words and expressions. IV. Ask the students to finish Exercise 3. V. Ask the students to make a summary of sentence patterns in letters of thanks. Reading Practice I. Encourage the students to write a letter of thanks, using the words and sentence patterns they learnt. II. Exchange the letters and reply them in pairs. 教学环节设计 Presentation of Extended activities I. Ask the students to read the situations in Exercise 1, and guess the answers. II. Listen to the tape and answer the questions. III. Listen again and take notes.
