Teaching aims:
At the end of the class, students will be able to
1 learn the basic information about the fable by answering questions and completing the table.
2 analyze the fable by thinking questions.
3 give the opinion about the story by discussing the questions.
Teaching procedures:
Step 1 Lead-in-small talk
Talk about some fables students are familiar with then guide them to tell good morals and virtues in our traditional culture.
Step 2 Preview the new words and phrases

2 What was the response from most of the people?
3 What did the young girl think and do when she saw the coins?
Step 4 Reading for details
Complete the table according to the story.

Work in groups.Discuss the following questions.
1.What do you think this fable is trying to tell us?Do you think the king was wise? Why or why not?
2 Will the girl accept the king’s gold coins at last?
3 Can you imagine the reaction of the other villagers when they knew there was a bag of gold coins under the stone?
4 If you were the king,what would you do to teach your people to take the responsibility of the country?
