Teaching Objectives
To learn and use new words and expressions related to introductions and greetings
To practice speaking skills by making introductions and asking and answering questions
To practice listening skills by understanding others’ introductions and responses
Teaching Content
Vocabulary: classmate, introduce, shake hands, hug, bow, pen pal, address, greet, bow, hug, shake hands
Sentence structures:
What’s your name? My name is…
How are you? I’m fine/good/okay/not so good/terrible.
Nice to meet you.
Good-bye/Bye.

Teaching Procedures
Warm-up
Greet the students and ask how they are doing today.
Review previous lessons’ vocabulary by having the students play a word game. The teacher says a word and the students have to repeat it and then say a word that starts with the last letter of the previous word.
Presentation
Introduce the new words and expressions related to introductions and greetings by showing pictures and asking students to guess or explain what they are.
Use realia or real-life situations to enable the students to understand and practice new words and expressions.
Practice
Divide the class into pairs and have them practice asking and answering questions, making introductions, and responding to introductions.
Have the students do role plays where they introduce themselves and shake hands, bow or hug, and ask and answer questions.
Listening and Speaking
Play the audio recording of the dialogue and have the students listen and follow along in their textbook.
Go through the dialogue sentence by sentence and have the students repeat each sentence after the teacher.
Break the students into groups and have them practice reading and acting out the dialogue.
Extension
Have the students write a letter to their pen pal, including a self-introduction, information about their family, hobbies, and interests, and their home address.
Ask students to present their letters in class. The
