Teaching design Teaching Aims: 1. Students can understand and master some basic forms and tense to write a letter. 2. Students can learn to reply to one’s letter. 3.Through cooperation and discussion, students can write and reply to letters. 4. Students can get more interests in learning English and in describing and expressing opinions in letters. 5. Students can improve the awareness of enjoying the fun of life. Teaching Key Points: The forms, tense and the writing skills applied in writing a letter. Teaching Difficult Points: 1. How to reply to one’s letter? 2. How to develop writing skills and language competence? Teaching Aids: multi-media Teaching Procedures: Step 1: Warming up and lead-in 1. Daily greeting such as “Good morning. How are you?” 2. Lead in the topic of this class. (1) Present some pictures and introduce my trips on the day off. (2) Discussion: Ask students to work in groups and talk about something about their days off. Make conversations using the points: Where did you go? What did you do? How was the trip/ the weather? .... (设计意图:通过“头脑风暴”和讨论的活动,激活学生已有的信息,增加英语学习的兴趣,使学生尽快地进入新课的学习,同时,通过学生表达自己的观点,提高学生对于课堂的参与性,也为下面的写作活动提供了素材。) Step 2: Pre-writing 1. Present the letter that Nick wrote to Tom. Ask students to think about how to rely to a letter. Emphasize some attentions on replying to a letter: the beginning, the body and the ending. And then write some commonly-used sentences of replying to a letter on the blackboard in order to use them as references when they write.
