Abstract
AvarieytofenvironmentalproblemshavebeenobservedintheChangjiangRiverEstuaryandadjacentcoastalarea．
includingeutrophication，harmfulalgalblooms(HABs)，andhypoxiainrecentdecades．Applicationofsedimentary
biogenicelementindicatorson山estudyofpaleoenvironmentcanreconstructenvironm entalevolutionhistory of
waters．1、vo 。Pb—datedcoreswerecollectedfromtheChangJiangRiverEstuary(s3)andadjacentcoasta1area(Z13)．
andtotalorganiccarbon(TOG)，totalnitrogen(TN)，biogenicsilicon(BSi)，totalphosphorus(TP)andphosphorus
(P】specieswereanalyzed．Threestagesofenvironmentalchangesarededucedbythenutrientsedimentaryrecords．
First，nutrientconcentration increasedrapidly sincethe 1950s，which attributed to agriculture developm entand
overusedchemicalfertilizers．Second，nurtientconcentrationkepthi对landprimaryproductionbegantopromote
duringthe1960sto1980s，whilediatom abundanceandproportionbegantodeclinesincethe1970s，accompanied
byreducedSi0；一concentrationandfluxrfomtheriveLThird，duetoseveraldamsandbridgesconstructed，river
runoffandcoastalhydrodynamicconditionsreducedtoacertainextentsincethe1990s．whichaggravatedtheunba1．
