How to Bring the Classroom Order under Control?
Abstract
It takes a teacher to transmit wisdom, impart knowledge and resolve doubt. These pedagogical tasks build upon good classroom management. Put differently, if a class is out of order, the teaching quality will be affected, and the learning atmosphere will be jeopardized as a whole. Consequently, it also takes a teacher to maintain classroom discipline. But how to manage a class in order and motivate the students to acquire the target language has never been anything but tricky and challenging. This semester I taught English to two classes at Tai Shan (泰山) senior high, each with forty learners. Because both the two classes broke into chaotic situation easily, I speculated that the students’ lack of interest in learning English exerted somewhat influence on the disorder of the class. This study is meant to substantiate what the predecessor had proclaimed was effective in classroom management. And furthermore, some teaching approaches were implemented and improvised to stimulate the students’ enthusiasm for English so as to test whether these methods could gain classroom control.
Introduction
What characteristics should a teacher possess in order to be referred to as the good mentor? Apart from being able to pass down a country’s heritage, impart students with knowledge, and sift through their difficulty, more important, an ideal teacher has to familiarize themselves with how to prevent the class from losing discipline. By and large, teachers have no problem transmitting their profession during the lecture; nevertheless, they are commonly confronted with in-class discipline challenges, great and small, no matter how experienced or well-prepared they are. And how could a teacher bring the classroom order under control and put on the right track the pupils’ interest in language learning would be what I want to explore. Not only is th
