一、导读 汉语句子结构多样，呈现出无主轴、无核心动词的流散和疏放的样态特征；对比之下，英语的句子呈现一种以主谓为主轴、以定式动词为核心、其他成分主要围绕定式动词扩展的样态。因此，除了主语的确立和翻译之外，谓语动词的翻译就成了汉语句子翻译最重要的一个环节。其中，最独特也最难以处理的就是连动式的谓语。因为，英语的句子特征决定了译者往往需要确定一个核心动词为定式动词，将原句中其他的动词处理为非定式动词。除了采用并列句来翻译那些表示先行后续的连续动词之外，更多时候，译者需要理清各个动作之间的从属逻辑关系，采用不定式短语、分词结构、介词短语、独立主格结构，以及各种从句等多种形式来处理核心动词以外的其他动词。 《胡锦涛的十七大讲话》属于讲话类型的体裁，其中一个特点就是包含大量多项扩展式连动句，是各种类型的汉语句子的谓语中最难处理的一种。译文选自人民日报网上刊登的版本，译者对各连续动词采用了非常灵活的处理方式，具有代表性，非常值得学习和借鉴。 Hu Jintao’s report delivered at the 17th National Congressof the Communist Party of China (CPC)（on the Taiwan Issue） Oct. 15, 2007Carrying Forward the Practice of “One Country, Two Systems” and Advancing the Great Cause of Peaceful National Reunification Since the return of Hong Kong and Macao to the motherland, more and more experience has been gained in putting into practice the principle of “one country, two systems.” The principle is perfectly correct and full of vigor.
