Methods using high performance liquid chromatography (HPLC) with evaporative light scattering detector (ELSD) detection, the active ingredient of Ginkgo biloba ginkgolides A, B, C and bilobalide were detected. The results of ginkgolide A in the range of 2.12 ~ 10.6μg showed good linear relationship within the (r = 0.999 5), the average recovery of 96.0%; ginkgolide B in the range of 2.10 ~ 10.5 μg showed good linear relationship within the ( r = 0.999 3), the average recovery was 94.6%; ginkgolide C at 1.97 ~ 9.80 μg was well within the linear relationship (r = 0.999 6), the average recovery was 92.4%; bilobalide at 4.12 ~ 20.6 μg was well within the linear relationship (r = 0.999 8), the average recovery was 93.6%. Conclusion The method is accurate and reliable, can be used for preparation of Ginkgo terpene lactones quality control.
