[Methods] Column: YMC  Pack ODS  A C18 (250 * 46mm, 5μ m), a mobile phase of acetonitrile - water (43:57), detection wavelength: 203nm. [Results] Saikosaponin a, d, respectively of the linear regression equation Ya = 1  223 * 106X-2  2498 * 105 (r = 0  9999), Yd = 2  093 * 106X-4  7862 * 105 (r = 0  9998), the average recoveries were 98  13%, 97  99%. [Conclusion] This study established Saikosaponin a, d assay method is simple, accurate, reliable, easy quality control of medicinal herbs Bupleurum.
