Keywords: human lactoferrin; cancer; cell proliferation Abstract Objective To explore the effect of lactoferrin on proliferation of the cultured cells in vitro.Methods MTT assay was used to evaluate the growth inhibition effect of lactoferrin on CNE, L02 and CHO cell lines.Results Lactoferrin significantly inhibited the proliferation of CNE cells in a dose dependent manner, but had no effect on the normal cells.Conclusions Lactoferrin as a new cancer chemo preventive agent could significantly inhibit the growth of carcinoma cells.
