Methods 26 patients since 2007, patients with lateral patellar instability support with the release, with a tight medial tibial tubercle elevation within a triple shift operation, patients were followed up an average of 16 months (6 to 28 months), analysis of efficacy. The results of preoperative Q angle (17.2 + -3.8) , after surgery (8.9 + -2.6) (P lt;0.01), Lysholm knee score (Lysholm knee score scale, LKSS) before surgery (46.5 + -7.6) points postoperatively (91.3 + -4.2) (P lt;0.01), improvement of relations between the patellofemoral joint, patellar track. Conclusion This surgical method has less complications and good functional recovery, orthopedic and reliable, and effective advantages. The patients were followed up for 6 to 28 months (16 months on average) after operation and clinical effect was evaluated. Results The quadricep angle was (17.2 + -3.8) preoperatively and (8.9 + -2.6) postoperatively (P lt;0.01 ), and Lysholm knee score scale was 46.5 + -7.6 preoperatively and 91.3 + -4.2 postoperatively (P lt;0.01). The relation of the patellofemoral joint was improved and the patella tracks were bettered.Conclusions The modified Maquet procedure in the treatment of patellar instability has definite therapeutic effect with fewer complications.
