Methods The influence of growth on human large intestine carcinoma cell lines LoVo and CoLo  320 induced by As2O3 injection was analyzed by observing living cells method, Trypan blue method, 3  (4,5  dimethylthiazole  2  yl)  2, 5  diphenyl tetrazolium bromide (MTT) assay. Telomerase activity of the carcinoma cells was measured by the method of repeat amplitication protocol (TRAP ) combining with polyacrylamide gel electrophosis (PAGE) silver staining method before and after the treatment with As2O3 injection. Results As2O3 injection could strongly inhibit the growth of human large intestine carcinoma cell lines LoVo and CoLo  320.Also the tolemerase activity of LoVo and CoLo  320 treated by As2O3 injection was inhibited obviously, which showed both dose  dependent and time  dependent relationship. Conclusion As2O3 has significant inhibition effect on the human large intestine carcinoma cell lines, which maybe closely related to As2O3 ‘s inhibiting effect on the carcinoma cell tolemerase activity.
