Preface
American education law, LEP students ( “English proficiency is not enough” students, mainly referring to new immigrant students) in the primary and secondary schools have to accept English as a Second Language (English as a second language, referred to as ESL) courses. As a result, the logical with the ESL students and ESL teachers in view. The past 20 years, many U.S. colleges have established a Teachers Of English to Speakers of Other Languages (to teach people who speak other languages English-speaking teachers courses, referred to as TESOL), specializing in training ESL teachers. In North America, east and west coasts, especially the concentration of new immigrants, TESOL Education is one of the most popular programs. The United States ESL teaching theory and pedagogy research, the past 20 years, have attached considerable importance, there are great achievements and development. The author believes that the U.S. ESL teaching theory is actually the U.S. education sector, the academic community has long been the teaching of English exploration and understanding of the law, reflecting the general rules of English language teaching in American society today and the teaching of English requirements.
In China, along with the further deepening of reform and opening up over the past 20 years, the teaching of English are also subject to much attention. English became the focus of primary and secondary school subjects. In China, because the student’s language environment is the Chinese rather than English language, English as a foreign language to learn. In the United States, ESL students to English-language environment, so English as a second language to learn.
