Methylmercury(MeHg),anenvironmentaltoxicantprimarilyfoundin?shandseafood,posesadilemmatobothconsumers andregulatoryauthorities,giventhenutritionalbene?tsof?shconsumptionversusthepossibleadverseneurologicaldamage. SeveralstudieshaveshownthatMeHgtoxicityisin?uencedbyanumberofbiochemicalfactors,suchasglutathione(GSH),fatty acids,vitamins,andessentialelements,butthecellularmechanismsunderlyingthesecomplexinteractionshavenotyetbeenfully elucidated.Theobjectiveofthispaperistooutlinethecellularresponsetodietarynutrients,aswellastodescribetheneurotoxic exposurestoMeHg. Inordertodeterminethecellular mechanism(s)oftoxicity, thee?ectofpretreatmentwith biochemical factors(e.g.,N-acetylcysteine,(NAC);diethylmaleate,(DEM);docosahexaenoicacid,(DHA);selenomethionine,SeM;Trolox) andMeHgtreatmentonintercellularantioxidantstatus,MeHgcontent,andotherendpointswasevaluated.Thispaperemphasizes thattheprotectionagainstoxidativ
