The procurement of induced pluripotent stem cells, or IPS cells, from adult di?erentiated animal cells has the potential to revolutionizefuturemedicine, where reprogrammed IPScells maybeusedto repairdisease-a?ected tissues ondemand. The potentialofIPScelltechnologyistremendous,butitwillbeessentialtoimprovethemethodologiesforIPScellgenerationandto preciselyevaluateeachcloneandsubcloneofIPScellsfortheirsafetyande?cacy.Additionally,thecurrentstateofknowledgeon IPScellsadvisesthatresearchontheirregenerativepropertiesiscarriedoutinappropriatetissueandorgansystemsthatpermit asafeassessmentofthelong-termbehaviorofthesereprogrammedcells.Inthepresentpaper,wediscussthemechanismsofcell reprogramming,currenttechnicallimitationsofIPScellsfortheiruseinhumantissueengineering,andpossibilitiestoovercome themintheparticularcaseofdentalregeneration. 1.CellDedifferentiationandPluripotency environment.
