S-MART,ASoftwareToolboxtoAidRNA-seqData Analysis MatthiasZytnicki*,HadiQuesneville URGI,INRA,Versailles,France Abstract High-throughputsequencingisnowroutinelyperformedinmanyexperiments.Buttheanalysisofthemillionsofsequences generated,isoftenbeyondtheexpertiseofthewetlabswhohavenopersonnelspecializinginbioinformatics.Whereas severaltoolsarenowavailabletomaphigh-throughputsequencingdataonagenome,fewofthesecanextractbiological knowledgefromthemappedreads.WehavedevelopedatoolboxcalledS-MART,whichhandlesmappedRNA-Seqdata.S- MARTisanintuitiveandlightweighttoolwhichperformsmanyofthetasksusuallyrequiredfortheanalysisofmapped RNA-Seqreads.S-MARTdoesnotrequireanycomputersciencebackgroundandthuscanbeusedbyallofthebiologist communitythroughagraphicalinterface.S-MARTcanrunonanypersonalcomputer,yieldingresultswithinanhoureven forGbofdataformostqueries.S-MARTmayperformtheentireanalysisofthemappedreads,withoutanyneedforother adhocscripts.Withthistool,biologistscaneasilyperformmostoftheanalysesontheircomputerfortheirRNA-Seqdata, fromthemappeddatatothediscoveryofimportantloci.
