Abstract: The control of traffic li ht is a very mi portant part of ITS. In view of the complex and fuzzy trffic flow of
medium2sized cities, fuzzy lo ic is comb ined with artificial neural newt ork. The len th of vehicle queue and reen li ht
are depicted by applyin fuzzy membersh ip functions. Then, themodel of traffic li ht control based on fuzzy2neural net2
work is bu ilt. Based on the veh icle counters, thewhole system is optmi ized usin neural newt ork. W ith the command of
the lobal optmi ization, the local traffic li h t is controlled usin fuzzy control theory.
