再论典籍复译的必然性 谭莲香辛红娟 中南大学外国语学院长沙理工大学外国语学院± 波大学外国语学院 本文从过程哲学视角阐述典籍复译的必然性，并探索复译对屮国文化对外传播 的意义。在过程哲学视域下，翻译活动中各基本要素即现实存在都是生成过程， 而且相互作用，形成一个复杂的关系网。由于原文、译者、读者、译语文化等现 实存在都是不断生成的，处于这一关系网中的译文也必然不断生成。同时，由于 创造性是生成过程的原动力，译本的生成过程是向新颖性动态演进的一种创造 性发展，因此不存在终极译本。在特定历史时期，复译赋予典籍以契合历史语境 的新形式，利于促进中国传统文化在异域的接受。从长远来看，复译本不断生成， 利于在译语文化中逐渐建构中W文化价值体系。 关键词： 过程哲学;典籍;复详; 基金：国家社科基金项目“《道德经》在美国的译介与接受研究”（项目编 号：14BYY025）的阶段性成果 Revisiting Necessity of Retranslating Chinese Classics TAN Lianxiang Xin Hongjuan Abstract： This paper discusses the necessity of retranslating classics from the perspective of process philosophy and explores the significance of retranslating to the communication between the Chinese culture and other cultures. According to process philosophy, each of the basic elements of translating activity, i. e. the actual entity, is a process of becoming. The actual entities interact with each other and, therefore, construct an interconnected network. Since the meaning of original text, translator, target reader and culture etc.are all in constant evolution, new translations are to be produced inevitably.M eanwhile, as creativity is the ultimate abstract principle of an actual entity， the production of translation is a creative advance toward novelty and, therefore, there is no such a thing as final or perfect translation. In a specific historical period, retranslations in new forms fitting the historical context help improve the reception of traditional Chinese culture in another culture. Tn the long run, continuous production of retranslations help construct Chinese value system in target culture. Keyword： process philosophy; Chinese classics; retranslation; 引言 复译，是中西翻译史上的普遍现象。一部经典原作，在历史长河中衍生出多部译 作。这些译作产生于不同的历史语境，呈现不同的形态，引起不同的反响。复译 是否必要?能否产生不可超越的经典译本?在当前中国文化对外传播的大语境下， 复译有何现实意义？ 关于复译的必要性，研究者从历史、社会和文化等角度进行了分析。Du-Nour (1995)认为历史、文化、语言语境的变化可能引起语言和翻译规范的变化，从 而使复译成为必然。Vandcrschcldcn (2000)总结丫五个复译的理由：一是现存 译本己无法令人满意且无法有效修订;二是原作有了新的权威版本;三是现存译 本风格已过时；四是需要复译以填补原作的某一特殊功能;五是对原作有了新的 阐释。Koskinen和Paloposki (2
