Chapter 4 Quotation and Offer Chapter 4 Quotations and Offers The difference between Quotations and offers A quotation is a statement of the current price of an article that you intend to sell. An offer refers to a promise to supply goods on the terms and conditions stated. Unlike an offer, a quotation is usually not legally binding upon the seller. Neither has it a fixed time of validity. In a firm offer, the exporter often promises to supply certain quantity of goods at a fixed price within a stated period of time. Other terms must be sufficiently clear and definite as well. A firm offer is binding upon the exporter. Types of Offer 从报盘人的身份来分,有买方报盘,卖方报盘。 买方报盘: bid/buying- offer 卖方报盘: selling-offer 从报盘形式来分,可分为口头报盘和书面报盘两种 从报盘先后顺序来分,又可分为主动报盘A Volunteer Offer和对询盘信的答复A Reply to an Inquiry 报盘从法律责任上来分,又可分为有约束力的报盘Offer with engagement和无约束力的报盘offer without engagement Offer with engagement---formal offer/ effective offer/firm offer Offer without engagement ---- free offer/ non-firm offer Specimen Letter 1 Specimen Letter 1 Please note that we have quoted our most favorable price and are unable to entertain any counteroffer.
