AbstractInsiderattackisoneofthemostseriouscyber-securitythreatstocorporate.Duringlastdecadethenumberofsuccessfulintruderattackshasincreasedinmanytimes.Thedamagecausedbytheseattacksisestimatedinbillionsofdollars.Amongallinsiderthreats,dataleakageisconsideredthemostdamagingintermsofpotentialfinancialloss.Moreover,itisalsoespeciallydifficulttodetectandprevent,becauseinmanycasestheattackerhastheproperauthoritytoaccessthestolendata.Howtopreventtheinsiderattacksandprotectthesecretcriticalinformationfromleaking，hasbecomeaseriousinformationsecurityproblem.Toefficientlyaddressdataleakageproblem,therearetwoessentialproblemswehavetotakeconsideration.Firstishowtotracktheconfidentialdataflowwhileitflowingfromonefiletoanotherfileortonetworksocket.Theotherproblemishowtoprotectcriticaldatastoredinendpoints,topreventitbeingleakedmaliciouslyorunintentionally.Inthispaper,wegiveanewsolutiontosolvetheseproblems.Forthefirstproblem,thetraditionalmethodistousedynamicallocationpolicybyadministratorstokeeptrackofconfidentialdata.Forexample,regularexpressionisusedtotrackthetransferofconfidentialdatasuchascreditcardnumbers,socialsecuritynumbers.Thismethodisappliedonlytothepreventionofcertainstructureddata.Butforunstructureddata,suchasdesigndrawings,programcodeandfinancialstatements,thetraditionalmethodisuseless.Weshowanewtechnologythattracksthemovementofcriticaldataorcriticaldocumentwhenitflowsthroughoff-the-shelfapplications.Itusesapplicationleveldynamictaintanalysistechnologytoletusersrunapplicationintheirownenvironmentwhilepreventingcriticalinformationleakage.Andforthesecondproblem,Commonapproachistorelyonapplicationlayermonitoringandcontrolofuserbehaviortopreventleaksofcriticalinformationhappenedonusers’terminals.Butforthosemaliciousbreachesofconfidentialdata,thesepreventivemeasuresareveryeasytocircumvent.Weadoptanewdevelopmentframework–“minifilter”developingkernelfilesystemfilterdriver,inwhichsystemencryptsfilesautomaticallyaccordingtoencryptionstrategieswithoutchanginguserhabits.Leakingc
