Aims:
In this period, the students will learn some useful words and expressions: missing; puzzled; step up; search; a fifteen-year-old boy; white-skinned; strange-looking; go+adj./p.p; show great interest in; due to; sighting; show up; witness; hear/see +sb/sth+do/doing/done; get ready for; put on; according to; frightened; research; rule out the possibility; look into; make up; amazing; take charge of; case; convincing; progress; disappointed.
They will also learn some sentence patterns:
1) Justin Foster, a high school student, went missing last Friday night.
2) Standing inside were lots of white-skinned, strange-looking creatures with large black eyes.
3) I haven’t seen Justin since.
4) Mr Foster, who was working that night, was surprised that…
5) not…until… Students will be encouraged to use what they have learned.

= A boy goes/is missing, and the police are puzzled.
● go missing=go lost : go 作, 意为“变成某种状态(通常指不好的状态)如:go mad (发疯) wrong (出故障) bad (变质)

● puzzle vt. 使……困惑 n. 疑惑,谜,智力游戏
puzzled adj. 困惑的(常用于指人,有时可以指人的表情)
puzzling adj. 令人困惑的(常用于指物) —PPT5
1) Her illness puzzled all the doctors. 使……困惑
