间参照框架分析了英汉语时间表达方式的认知机制，理顺了英汉时间表达方式的异同，从而有助于更好地理解时间概念，并具有一定的应用价值，开阔了时间认知方面新的思路。关键词：时间参照框架；时间表达；时间认知AbstractThethesisconstructsTemporalFramesofReferenceasthetheoreticalbasis.Byapplyingqualitativemethod,ittakesModernChineseDictionary,OxfordAdvancedLearner’sEnglish-ChineseDictionary，thewebsiteofCenterforChineseLinguisticPekingUniversityandthewebsiteofCorpusofContemporaryAmericanEnglishasthedatasources.Finally,throughtheanalysisofthecognitivemechanismsoftime,thethesissummarizessimilaritiesanddifferencesbetweenEnglishandChinesetemporalexpressions.ThethesistakesLevinson’sspatialframesofreferenceasthefoundation,throughmetaphoricalmapping,constructingTemporalFramesofReference:RelativeFrameofReference,IntrinsicFrameofReferenceandAbsoluteFrameofReference.TemporalRelativeFrameofReferencehastheobserverasthereferencepoint.Accordingtodifferentperspectivesoftheobserver,therearetwosituations:(1)theobserverfacesthepast,sothepastisinthefrontoftheobserverandthefutureisattheback;(2)theobserverfacesthefuture,sothepastisatthebackoftheobserverandthefutureisinthefront.TemporalIntrinsicFrameofReferencetakesatemporaleventasthereferencepoint.Theeventthathappensearlierthanthereferencepointismarkedinthefrontandtheonelaterthanthereferencepointismarkedattheback.TemporalAbsoluteFrameofReferencetakesanabsolutelyfixedtemporaleventortheearthrotationandrevolutionasthereferencepoint.FromtheapplicationofTemporalFramesofReference,thethesisanalyzesthefollowingEnglishandChinesetemporalexpressionsindetail:(1)thetemporalexpressionsinvolvingtheconceptsofBEFORE/AFTERinEnglishandChinese;(2)Englishtensesandaspects;(3)Chineseaspectmarkers—LE,GUO,ZHE,andZAI;(4)adverbialclauseoftimeinEnglish;(4)thecognitivemotivationofcalendar;and(5)thecausesofChinesecharacterswiththecomponentRI.ThroughtheresearchitisnoticeablethatthreeTemporalFramesofReferencegenerallyexistinEnglishandChinesetemporalexpressions.Tobemorespecific,lexicaltemporalexpressionsinEnglishandChinesesharesomethingincommon.However,ingrammaticaltemporalexpressi
