ABSTRACT With the rapid development of modern society，mobile phone is widely used in O旧daily life .While mobile network becomes more and more popu1ar ，a universal ， etIective WAP gateway which makes mobile phone connect to Internet through it has great significance. We describe the design and implementation ofWAP gateway base on Java in 也臼 ‘?paper.Mobile phone can visit the web page on Internet 伽rough 江 Our WAP gateway mainly contains Bearer Module and WAPBox Module. Bearer Module realizes Bear，町S 也 WAP Protocol r叩e此ory. It receives requirement which is sended from mobile phone. Mobile phone uses the 阳vice that provided by WAP gateway through Bearers. It chooses proper WAPBox according the load and message processing ‘ ? queue of the WAPBox， then 批 sends required message to the WAPBox. Bearer Module runs in ditIerent data ∞mmunication service that bases ditIerent network，such as GSM，CDPD，CDMA and so on . It provide啄 accordant service， transparent communication function to the uplayer. WAPBox Module contains WTP Module，WSP Module，HTTP Module，WML Module. WTP Module realizes Wireless Transaction Protocol in the WAP protocol r，叩町to早 It deals with the r叫uirement sended from mobile phone 伽rough mobile network. It uses WTP Finate State Machine to realize its function . WSP Module realizes Wireless Session Protocol 也 the WAP proω∞lr叩ertory. WSP Module deals with WTPEvent ofWTP Module. It calls HTTP Module which connects to HT丁Ps即V町 ωget web page. Then 、如 sends response to Bearers Module. It uses WSP Finate State Machine to realize its function.HTTP Module ∞nnectsω Internet to get web page and convert web page on 、 Internetωweb page on WML 岛rmat that can easily disp1ay in mobile phone.
