In the modern world, international communication becomes increasingly frequent and important, which promotes English to become a universal language in international exchange. Under such circumstances, EST, with its characteristics of high application value, clear purpose and specialization, has become an indispensable tool in the international exchange of each field of science. Therefore, it is necessary to explore the characteristics and English-Chinese translation of EST. This report is based on the translation material of Use And Maintenance Manual of Stringer Machine( Chapter 4~Chapter 9), which is completed during the internship in SUNTHER Consulting Co., Ltd. The manual belongs to EST text, and mainly introduces the use and maintenance of each part of the machine. The translation material is objective and accurate in language, coherent and strict in structure, precise and compact in diction. It not only shares the common features of EST text, but also is characterized by high-level specialization in vocabulary, wide use of passive voice, imperative sentences, long and compound sentences, etc. The report analyzes the features of the task, and adopts Skopos theory as the theoretical basis for the choice of translation methods and strategies of the EST text.
