In daily communication, sometimes people can agree to disagree and accommodate others‘ views with an open mind. While sometimes people perhaps maintain their own opinions unrelentingly. In this case, conflict talk is likely to happen when they cannot put up with others‘ language, behaviors, thoughts, and habits etc. Therefore, conflict talk is inevitable, and meanwhile it is a kind of unharmonious linguistic phenomenon which should be avoided, mitigated and eliminated. Conflict talk refers to both a certain kind of speech act denoted narrowly and a process of interaction in a broad sense. As a common but complex social and linguistic phenomenon, conflict talk associated with conflict often happen among people of different age groups, and extensive studies have been done in numerous fields. However, for the kind of conflict talk happened between people in middle adulthood and those in young adulthood, there are rare researches at home and abroad. When immature young adults in young adulthood that is actually a prolonged one encounter sensitive middle-aged people in middle adulthood, the communication between them often breaks down and conflict talk occurs frequently. Based on the speech act theory and impoliteness theory, the present investigation attempts to collects data from a Chinese TV play ―Qing Chun Qi‖ Zhuang Shang Geng Nian Qi (《―青春期‖ 撞上更年期》) and analyze conflict talk in the given Chinese culture, and the research is primarily represented from the pragmatic prospective with the combination of the social psychology of conflict talk parties on the basis of qualitative and quantitative analyses.
