Color is also a difference between a city to another city as a gene. With the continuous development of economy, the people require to increase the quality of urban environment, the sense of belonging and identification day by day. Since 1845, overseas gradually practice a lot and research urban color. Cities in China have gradually began to research urban color, formulate urban color planning which reflecting in the urban construction. Our urban color is still found in practicing convergence and pollution problems, the pattern of urban color planning and the guide way to control and implement are also imperfect. This paper’s concern and research focus on exploring gradate and standardize planning and practice of urban color, mode, and establishing a more systemic urban color guide. This research mainly adopts the method of theory to practice . In the theoretical level, collect and sort existing urban color planning achievements and related materials at home and abroad firstly, in order to provide theoretical support. Second, combine Color Attribute, the Colorimetry, Color Contrast, Color Coordination, Color Physiology, Color Psychology, the Culture of Color, Color Geography and so on, analyze urban color carrier, characteristics, influence factors to integrate the mode of urban color planning and guidance from a macro positioning, meso layout, micro design, implementation guide four levels at last. On a practical level, selectively research Harbin old town, new town, analyze and summarize the experience and inadequate of the last urban color practical work. According to theoretical studies summarized in urban color planning and guided mode, propose patterns which meet the characteristics of Harbin color planning and practice.
