II II ABSTRACT With the development of science and society, in recent years, multi-fiber bundle in all walks of life gets more and more extensive application. It’s mainly reflected in the medical, industrial, military, laser, communication and other fields, especially in communication and medical areas. But comparing with the ordinary optical fiber tip, the multi-fiber bundle is more complex, such as dimension structure, core sorting, and so on. It makes technology face new challenges. In the face of multi-fiber bundle increasing market demand, this paper aims to develop the key manufacture technology of multi-fiber bundle. We select the 19 core and 25 core fiber bundles as the research object of this thesis, which have the most representative structure and the most market demands now. The capillary materials of 19 core and 25 multi-fiber bundle studied by this paper are borosilicate glass and ceramic, which represent the most common capillary type at present. Their different mechanical strength, hardness and transparency determine the different manufacture process. The full text is divided into four parts. The first part is the introduction of multi-fiber bundle. It mainly describes the transmission principle, application in all sectors, and development status in domestic and abroad. The second part is about manufacturing process design of multi-fiber bundle. We analyze and design the technology program of key process in multi-fiber bundle production, such as, capillary design, assembly, polishing, coating and so on. And the third part is the analysis of the experimental results. The experiment verifies the feasibility of designed process scheme. Finally we succeed in sample building, and get the suitable process scheme for mass production. The fourth is a general summary of the whole thesis and the prospect for future. The successful research in multi-fiber bundle process lays a solid foundation for the subsequent category products. KEY WORDS: multi-fiber bundle,
