Abstract Translation is an art, especially literary translation. Literary works use artistic means and express a kind of thinking content and style .It is therefore not enough only to convey the meaning of literary works. Honglou Meng is an encyclopedia of Chinas feudal society, culture, history, and life. It attracts countless translators to translate it into different languages for its literary value and artistic achievements. These translations make a great contribution to cross-cultural exchange, among which the most successful English versions are “A Dream of Red Mansions” of Yang Hsien-yi couples and “Th Story of the Stone” of the British linguist David Hawkes.
