THE RESEARCH OF X COMPANY FOR
LEAN PRODUCTION IMPLEMENTAION AND
QUALITY IMPROVEMENT
ABSTRACT
Since 1980’s, China takes the great development opportunity for
manufacturing industry, and obtains a serious of outstanding achievement in
China economy development and society improvement, i.e. rapid GDP
increase, technology advance, and living standard improvement. Meanwhile,
it’s the fact that China is still a manufacturing center, and the low cost
advantage is step by step diminished with yearly increasing labor cost and
overhead. Therefore, how to reduce cost, and improve quality are the
common challenges for China industry. How to survive or become leader is
the urgent issue for entrepreneur. Under such tough situation, lean production
and QC improvement are widely implemented, because company cost can be

reduced if the lean production activities are conducted effectively, for
example, Toyota, furthermore, the company is possible to beat the
competitors with the advantage of cost and quality.
This thesis is discussed on a Germany automotive paintshop manufacturer
located in China. It starts with lean tool of VSM to identify the issues, then
with JIT and pull system to design the lean solution and its implementation
together with 5S, layout optimization, and process redesign. Meanwhile, in
order to eliminate the waster, quality needs to be improved accordingly. With
QC tools to analyze the issues, then optimize the internal QC and supplier
quality management according to PDCA cycle and business requirements.
The improvement is proved by a typical project. Finally, summarize the good
experience for lesson sharing, and also give some good advice for future lean
activities.
