Abstract Study on the Effects of Wuji Baifeng Pellet in BPH Mice and Rats Models Zuo Ting (Pharmacology) Directed by Miao Mingsan Abstract Objective: To observe the effect of Wuji Baifeng Pellet to benign prostatic hyperplasia (BPH) in mice and rats models. Through measure the prostate weight, prostate exponent, determine the level of testosterone(T)、estradiol(E2) and epidermal growth factor(EGF) content in the animal models, and observe the morphological change of the mice and rats’ prostate, thymus，renal and spleen. To evaluate curative effect and initially reveal clarify therapeutic action of Wuji Baifeng Pellet restraining BPH. of mice and rats models. Methods: By subcutaneous injecting testosterone propionate 5mg/kg in castrated mice every day to copy the BPH mice model.Three days later from mice castrated, respectively drench the suspl. of longbishu caps(0.45g/kg,fifty times of clinic dosage), the suspl. of wujibaifeng pellet （9g/kg、4.5g/kg、2.25g/kg，2ml/100g）and the same dosage saline in the blank group and model group,once a day for three weeks. Two hour after last administration ,take blood from eye sockets, put the mice to death, observe the changes of prostate weight, prostate exponent,measure the T、E2 content in blood serum, and observe the morphological change of the mice and rats’ prostate, thymus，renal and spleen in each group. By subcutaneous injecting testosterone propionate 4mg/kg/d in castrated mice every day to copy the BPH mice model. Seven days later from mice castrated, respectively drench the suspl. of longbishu caps(0.3g/kg,ten times of clinic dosage), the suspl. of wujibaifeng pellet （6g/kg、3g/kg、1.5g/kg，2ml/100g）and the same dosage saline in the blank group and model group,once a day for 30 days.
