But on e hundred yea rs later, the Negro st订1 i s not free, on e hundred yea rs later, the life of the Ne gro is st订1 s adly cripple d by the manac les of segreg ation and the chains of dis crimination ? one hundred years later, the Negro liv es on a lonely island of pov erty in the mi dst of a vast o cean of mater ial prosperi ty. one hundr ed years late r, the Negro i s still langu ished in the c orners of Ame rican societ y and finds hi mself an exil e in his own la nd.
