This momentous decree came as a great beacon light of hope to millions of Negro slaves who had bee n seared in th e
flames
of
wi thering inju stice. It
cam e
as
a
joyous
d aybreak
to
en d
the
long
nig ht
of
bad
capt ivity.
But
on e hundred yea rs later, the Negro st订1
i s not free, on e hundred yea rs later, the life of the Ne gro is st订1 s adly
cripple d
by
the
manac les
of
segreg ation
and
the
chains
of
dis crimination ?
one
hundred
years
later,
the
Negro
liv es
on
a
lonely island of pov erty
in

a
vast

of
